3-Bromopyruvate (Bromopyruvic acid), a hexokinase II inhibitor, can induce apoptosis in hepatocellular carcinoma cells by inducing endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress.
3-Bromopyruvate inhibits ATP generation and upregulates the expression of DR5. 3-Bromopyruvate upregulates CHOP, GRP78 and the phosphorylation of AMPK and augments TRAIL-induced Bax and caspase-3 levels.

生产方法
其制备方法是将丙酮酸中加入少许浓硫酸和溶剂二氯甲烷置于反应瓶中,滴加溴约需3.5h,并搅拌,有白色沉淀产生,再继续搅拌1h,用环己烷和石油醚稀释,然后冷却反应混合物得到结晶,过滤,用石油醚洗涤并干燥得到产品。
